Wedding Videography Tutorial

Wedding videography tutorial

By Jan-Noel Placido

This video will demonstrate you on how to use your camera to get a great shot. Doing wedding pre-nuptial are very technical you must have the proper equipment or gadgets, to have a high quality video. Videography must be studied for a couple of years. You must get to know every single detail, from equipment or gadgets, to angle, editing and any other stuff. Videography is what we call capturing every single picture or a movement from anything else.

In the modern world, couples do like to capture the exciting moments on their special day. I have witness how couples doing pre-nuptial at the beach if you see them in the naked eye, you can see how it was made. I ask the videographer on what kinds of aspect do you need in order to come up with a great video. First is the spot or location, second is to have good crew, third is securing a nice dress for the couples, last and for most is to secure a good camera. He stated this and really told me that you most really have to love videography in order to create a good one, you must have to be creative.

In this video you can see how do cameraman uses his camera and his crew making a good film. As you can see he uses a stabilizer or what we call tripod to use it to hold the camera forward and backward or sideward from left to right. This is very technical and you really must practice it over and over to perfect it.

Enjoy watching this tutorial video, please do listen in every detail that the professional videographer is telling you, write down some important keywords, so you won’t forget about it. Happy filming on wedding occasions.

This article as a sample condemns help you decide what you decide just what you would like you include in your wedding video package. Your wedding Dvd menu will appear as beautifully customized with your wedding day. Here are some options that would be available to you. First of all the one camera package, with the one camera coverage of your wedding ceremony.

The camera is set up at the most strategic position as possible as to capture the best angle for visibility and sound recording. Preferably near the front of the Church. Then near the closing of the ceremony the camera is quickly moved to back to the Church to capture bride and groom walking down the eye. One camera package is the good choice but for the best coverage the two camera package is recommended. The difference between the one camera package and two camera package is this that two main cameras recording simultaneously from tripods capturing two different angles enabling close up shots to be combine together in the post production editing process with wide angle or audience response shots, so that you won’t miss any of the action.

The video taping of your wedding reception is included with both the one and two camera wedding packages. This includes one camera coverage of all the events of your wedding reception from your grand entrance to the cutting of the events, the first dance and each and every event until the last session event of the evening. Another special feature is the video tape testimonials from some of your guests offering congratulations or wishes. Additional camera mounted lighting ensure the best video quality form the coverage.

An extra feature that can be added to your package is the highlight video. Many of the special moments of your wedding day like arriving at the Church, the wedding ceremony, making your exit from the Church and special events of the reception are all set to music with special effects. This is a wonderful emotionally charge way to show the highlights of your wedding into just ten to twelve minutes.

An optional feature for the recording of the ceremony is wireless microphones wear by the groom. This will enable even the faintest whisper to be heard. This is a great feature but not absolutely necessary for good sound quality. This feature is available with the two camera package only. Included in your package are digital still images prepared to a slide show with music and special effects.

An additional option is presentation of bride and groom personal pictures starting from baby pictures to adult age, all set to music with special effects which can be included in the wedding video and shown at the reception as well. If none of these options suite you they are glad to customize the package to meet your needs.

Okay, you’ve been asked to film a wedding video. You’ve done it before for a family friend and your finished product got rave reviews from the bride and groom. Now you are seen as the go-to person for wedding videos and maybe are even making a bit of money at it. Of course, you don’t want your first success to be a one-time thing. This might develop into a lucrative business, or at least a skill you’ll be able to proclaim to family and friends. In other words, you want to extend your craft and need some continuing advice.

To start off with, no matter whose wedding it is, remember to meet with the bride and groom well before the wedding. Many couples never want you to stop filming the entire day (so you’ll need extra batteries and a high-gigabyte data card). Some couples will want you to concentrate solely on them and not their guests, while others want to capture the mood of the event. To please the happy couple, you need to focus on their wishes and not your own.

It is smart to scout the location beforehand so you can practice camera angles, shoot exteriors without guests in the way, or set up microphones. You can test out lighting equipment (if allowed) and set up any tripods you might need. If you have fellow videographers helping you out, they can receive instructions well in advance so they can do their own preparation work without vocal interruptions on the ‘big day’.

It is important to consider camera angles, in relation to the subject. To shoot up close conveys intimacy, and so a zoom lens should be used for the exchange of vows and rings, as well as the couple’s initial kiss. If you can stand/crouch close to the bride and groom during these important moments, do so. The challenge of the videographer is to capture moments but not be in the way. It is a careful balance between bold and intrusive. If you are expected to be off to the side, or out of the way of the audience’s view, then choose your angles carefully. Being up high, on a balcony for instance, provides a view of the entire crowd, but can also make the couple look small.

A special element one can add to a wedding video is reaction shots of the guests and even personal interview moments that the happy couple can review for years. But many videographers are not reporters, so if you plan on interviewing people it is best to prepare questions beforehand. Some sample questions are:

“What do you know of how the couple first met?”

“Where do you see the couple in ten years from now?”

“What advice can you give the newlyweds, based on your own experiences?”

In terms of post-production, this is where the videographer can cut out unimportant footage, or add music over unclear dialogue. Music can enhance the mood of a situation, or transition between moments. Movie Maker Pro is a good program for editing (easy for even beginners to use) and has built in transition and effect functions. Vegas Pro is another good editing program, which also has visual effects and customizable layouts. Remember that video editing does not have to follow the chronological order of events, can include still photos, and does not have to include music all the way through. If you have been hired to film a wedding, you might even produce several versions of the wedding video, so that the couple can select their favourite piece and be satisfied with the product they have purchased.

Wedding Videography Today

So you’re about to shoot a wedding video, to capture a happy couple’s momentous day. It’s the most memorable moment in their lives, save the birth of a child. It is a day they’ll treasure forever and a video they’ll cherish.

No pressure, right?

Now, maybe you’re a professional, who has done this for years and has nerves of steel. But for the family friend who has been asked to film this event as a favour to the bride and groom – but is still expected to produce a quality video – here are some valuable tips.

First of all, plan for the wedding day well in advance. In film terms, this is called pre-production. Make sure you have a video camera (or two) and practice using it. The worst thing that can happen the day of the event is for the videographer to fumble with equipment at the moment of the bride and groom’s first kiss. A good piece of advice is to visit the church and other locations well in advance to plan where the best camera angles are, where to stand, and to see if a tripod is usable or whether you will have to stand and hold the camera steady for long periods of time. It might be smart to practice filming, changing angles, and setting up microphones. (Microphones can best be set up on the altar or podium to capture the words of the priest/ justice of the peace, bride and groom). Most churches don’t allow for additional lights, so one must find a position which will take advantage of what natural light is available.

The key moments that a videographer must be sure to capture are: the bride walking down the aisle, the vows the couple exchange, the first kiss, the exchange of rings, and the signing of the register. At the reception, a videographer would be wise to capture the best man’s speech, the maid of honour’s speech (and any other toasts), the first dance, the cutting of the cake and the ever-popular bouquet and garter tosses. If you have the skills, access, and ability, however, there are other key moments you might want to film. If possible, some tasteful clips of people getting ready (tying their ties, etc) can be included, the groom standing at the altar, the flower girls walking up the aisle, and the reactions of the crowd as the bride and groom are pronounced husband and wife for the first time.

For help with filming your first wedding, or for extra advice for the more professional videographers, there are several useful websites: the Wedding Videography Forum and the Wedding and Event Videographer’s Association. A video to watch would be the Advanced Broadcast Camera Techniques for extra help or review.

Videography

Videography

~ Jenna Greene

At one time a portrait – oil or acrylic – was a marvellous thing. Not only was the result beautiful, but posing was less of a chore than the former popular medium, the time consuming tapestry. After the portrait came the camera, first in shades, then in colour. But now, technology has advanced past the film and digital camera. Technology is in the midst of the ‘video’ age.

Videography has expanded further with the advent of the Internet. People all around the world can use a video camera, cell phone, Ipad, or other available technology to shoot and upload film clips or quick movies. Daily anecdotes can become pop culture fodder and candid shots can develop into instant sensations. Bloggers can become stars just by recording their own thoughts.

When thinking of videography, it can mean many different things. The subject can be in movie format (telling a story), or can be more akin to a web diary. Still slideshows fall into the category of videography as well, using music to reveal a message or share information in a creative way. Web cameras can be left running long-term in order to document daily life, and this is seen as a form of videography as well. Videography can now extend into the realm of ‘reality’ tv or can make everyday artists into movie directors and producers. Wedding videography has become a prolific field, as has event videography in general. How-to videos can be quite useful, as directions can be paired with visual examples. Video conferencing can send vital information to many different people across many miles.

If you are interested in the more ‘artistic’ side of videography, hoping to create interesting and thought-provoking images (or even turn an interest into a business), there are several components you should consider.

In many ways videography is similar to photography. A lot of the concepts transfer over. When filming, as in photography, first you must choose a subject. What is your video going to be about and what makes this subject interesting? The viewpoint of the camera is also a variable, as you must decide where your subject will be and where the camera will be located. Will you shoot your subject from down low or from above? Will you shoot from far away or zoom in close to your subject? Lighting is important to consider as well, as shadows create a very different mood than a bright setting. Will natural light be used or will artificial light be provided? A photographic technique known as “the rule of thirds” (placing the subject off centre in a frame) can also be used in a video, as the placement of the subject can create a creative image or help point to the theme of a piece.

But, of course, videos incorporate things that photographic cameras can not, such as audio. Dialogue and music can be added to an image. Also, videos have the added benefit of action (characters can move!) and even special affects. Thus, videography has long-since become a better way to express ideas and themes. And again, thanks to advancing technology, it is becoming easier by the minute for more people to jump into this field.

Oyo Boy was dressed in a white suite and white pants and also white Chuck Taylor rubber shoes. Kristine looked stunning and gorgeous as she walked down through the aisle. The candles on the side of the aisle provided a dramatic concept to the wedding ceremony. Sparkle was seen on the couple’s eyes which suggested the excitement to the event. Oyo, signaling an okay sign, patiently waited her bride as she walked near him. The guests were teary-eyed as they witnessed how the two exchanged their vows and said their “I do’s” to each other. They also gave the rings which symbolizes their love and commitment for each other.

The event was commenced by a reception by the shore. The couple had their first dance in the moonlight as husband and wife. Savoring the moment together, Oyo and Kristine celebrated their wedding with their family, relatives and friends.

Wedding Videography: Kelly Ann and Liam

United with love: Kelly Ann and Liam’s Wedding

by Jullienne Cabildo

Marriage is one of the most memorable events in one’s life. It is an event which people look forward to because it marks the challenging part of one’s life which is married life. Wedding ceremonies until wedding receptions are needed to be recorded so that in anytime of the day, the couple or the guests can reminisce that memorable occasion. Wedding videography is also one way of keeping your memories safe. It also records every moment on your wedding day. From start to finish, cameras are taking each single moment that marks ones life. In a wedding videography, music is incorporated so that it can appear on a dramatic and cinematic approach. It matches the emotions and feelings of all people who took part of the wedding. It also highlights the important segments of the entire wedding to emphasize that romantic part.

Wedding is one of the most significant occasions in Liam and Kelly Ann’s life that’s why they hired someone to do their wedding videography. They want to savor each and every single moment of their wedding day. Taken at the Star of the Sea Church, Liam and Kelly professed their unending love and commitment for each other and promised to love each other no matter what happen. The entrance of the bride was so dramatic that his father was gushing into tears when he was escorting Kelly down the aisle. His overflowing love for his daughter showed with his tears.

The traditional Catholic marriage rites were conducted. There were lighting of the candle, giving of rings, which were the symbol of their everlasting and undying love, declaring of vows and commitment to each other, which is also a very romantic and touching part of the wedding rites.

The whole wedding ceremony was very solemn, serene and meaningful. Each moment was cherished by each and everyone who witnessed the momentous occasion. Their friends and relatives are also there to share to their joys and happiness. Full of love in the air, Liam and Kelly Ann promised to love and cherish each other for all the days of their lives as husband and wife. The reception was also made to a private function room. There were foods and drinks also available for all. The traditional cutting of the cake was also done by the newly weds. The newly wed couple and the guests enjoyed taking part of this memorable event.

Memories are forever kept. Weddings are the memories worth keeping for. Wedding videography creates a storyline of how couples commit themselves to each other, through thick and thin, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death take them apart.

by Julienne Cabildo

One of the most important events in a person’s life is the time when he or she will be married. It is a very special moment which is filled with various emotions of happiness, bliss, gladness, joy and a little bit of sadness for the parents. David Michael and Melissa Beth were one of those who decided to take on to the next stage of their lives- the married life. So much of the preparations were made. Excitement and anticipation were felt and experienced. David and Melissa took the next part of their lives together as husband and wife.

Inspired with the Jewish traditions and customs, David and Melissa’s wedding was conducted in a solemn and romantic private area.  Filled with so much delight in their hearts, David and Melissa professed their eternal and unending love for each other. They are both dressed elegantly with David wearing the exquisite black suite and Melissa wearing a white, beautiful wedding gown.  Melissa looked gorgeous and stunning with her gown and make-up while David looked the most handsome groom.

Each of the guests is excited on the union of Melissa and David as husband and wife. They were filled with joy witnessing how the two people will be united by love and by God. Their friends and relatives were invited to celebrate the happiness and joy that they experienced. The wedding rites were executed in a traditional way. The wedding ceremony was administered by the Jewish priests in a formal and in a solemn manner. David and Melissa didn’t kiss at the end of the ceremony like what was done in any other wedding ceremonies. In Jewish traditions, they are not very much evident of showing affection and intimacy with each other. They prefer it to be done privately.

The formal ceremony was followed by an extravagant celebration at a private pool area. The reception was enjoyed by the newly weds as well as their guests. The place was filled with delicious foods and drinks which they really enjoyed. The newly weds and the guests danced to express their happiness of the very significant occasion. They shared their laughs and gladness on the occasion which was worthy to be remembered. The event was ended by a fireworks display which David and Melissa and their guests also witnessed.

To ensure that this momentous event will be captured, David and Melissa they hired a professional to create a wedding videography for them. Each part of the wedding was taken. From the preparation on the wedding day to the fireworks display, all of them were recorded.

Joy, happiness and delight were the words to describe the Michael- Beth Nuptials.

Wedding Videography: It’s Worth The Cost

Wedding Videography

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video must be priceless. Wedding videography has been around for at least thirty years, but the quality in film has only recently been improving. Unlike wedding photography, wedding videography can capture the emotion and joy of the special day. While wedding photography can capture the smiles from the day’s events, wedding videography can capture the couple’s first kiss; the fun guests were having on the dance floor and the look of love between the newly married couple.

One of the most important components of wedding videography is how the video is shot and what style the videographer used. An additional benefit of wedding videography is that the videographer and his clients can choose from a variety of different styles of how they’d like the video to look and how it can be shot and that isn’t something that can be done with photography. The different styles of wedding videography are journalistic style, cinematic, storytelling, and traditional. (wikipedia/wedding videography).

Wedding videography that is shot in a journalistic style is also known as shooting it like a documentary. The events are edited and seen as they occur and are continuous. The journalistic style will show the events from start to finish as they unfold and this form of editing is a very clean-cut style to use. (wikipedia/wedding videography).

Wedding videography that is shot in a cinematic style is referred to as making a movie or film about the wedding. Unlike a journalistic style, which merely tells the story of the events that happened during the day, the cinematic style shoots the wedding to include special effects, a more dramatic mood and a different sensation than the journalistic style would. Wedding videography that is shot in a cinematic style may even show the couples first kiss before they show the ceremony. (wikipedia/wedding videography).

Another style of wedding videography is storytelling. This style often times will have the bride and groom telling the story of the events that unfolded that day. The sound bites will play over the video and the bride and groom will record what they want to say either before or after the actual wedding takes place. (wikipedia/wedding videography).

The last style of wedding videography is the traditional style. A traditional style wedding videography tends to look more like a family shot video. The difference between a videographer who uses the traditional style and a home-edited video is that the videographer has better lighting and knows the right angles to shoot the couple in. This style still follows the linear progression and unlike cinematic, doesn’t tell a story for dramatic effect but merely captures the day’s events for all to remember through the years. (wikipedia/wedding videography).  wedding videography new jersey
